Rebekah’s Trimester Update

Apparently Rebekah is on a trimester calendar- I’m not sure how I missed this detail, but alas now I know.  While quite good with math and science {thanks to Josh}, Rebekah has taken to reading a little less enthusiastically.  I think it was just harder than she expected.  She loves concepts, such as sounding out.  It irritates her that there are rules that just don’t matter sometimes.  Silent letters?  Ph=f?  Gh=f?  Why not just use an “f’?  Anyway, she gets frustrated when she has to work at things like this, feeling like it comes easily to everybody else.  We’ve had to purposefully put aside time for her to practice reading, but evidently it has paid off!  Rebekah has jumped from a level 4 to a level 12, which is above standard but typical for her class {overachievers}.  She has continued to excel in math and science and writing.  Those are the things she loves, though I hope she will develop a true love for reading down the road.  She is very sweet and reads to both Luke and Lizzie and continues to craft every minute she can.

In looking at her assessment, I was glad to see that Rebekah met every standard and exceeded many!  She either maintained her first trimester score or improved, and never went down.  Her teacher is pleases with her progress and says that she is a good worker, tho she could improve her time management and organization {I’m gonna say Josh contributed here too}.

Beyond school, Rebekah is still such a wonderful daughter.  She is thoughtful, responsible, and loving.  She is such a blessing to us and we pray to others, as well.

Mrs. Reilly loved that Rebekah picked up on how the pictures got bigger and more detailed. Quite an observation for a 6yo.

Mrs. Reilly says this is some of the best writing she has seen in a long time! It is also great because she is learning conventions, such as capitalization, punctuation, and using the lines correctly.

I was amused at how intricately Rebekah made her conference folder.

Rebekah’s newest school picture. Love her pointy little chin- it was one of my favorite things about her when she was brand new.  I loved seeing that precious chin as I picked her up in the middle of the night and nursed her.
