Hi, Mom!

Five years ago, at the end of a long day, when I was worn out and ready to just throw in the towel, Josh would take baby Bekah and pop just her head around the kitchen door and say, “Hi, Mom!”  I have always loved Josh’s narrative for the kids, and this is no exception.  I tend to have a negative perspective, like the kids are crying AT me, out of frustration for some need they think I’m not fulfilling. I take it rather personally.  Josh always turns it around and says stuff like, “I just love you soooo much, Mom!  I think you’re wonderful, and I just hate missing even a second with you.” {This goes back to the beginning of our marriage- every day for 3 years we both separately drove past the same chained-up husky every morning and afternoon.   I always felt so sorry for the hairy mongrel- who keeps a husky in Texas heat?!  The poor thing had 8 feet to roam around… I never said anything to Josh, who one day mentioned how much that dog must love getting so much outdoor time!  Glass half full, for sure.}  As silly as it is, Josh’s eternal optimism and hope help me power through almost any day.

So, imagine my delight when my two favorite girls popped around the corner to say, “Hi, Mom!”

And here are my boys with Lizzie.  Such a sweet family I have.

  1. Nana Phyllis says:

What a great family, indeed! We feel so blessed to have all of you in our family. Great skyping today! Love seeing you all. No smiles from just awakened Lizzie, but she sure was cute. Loved seeing Rebekah’s empty bottom teeth area. Luke was funny, wiggling his “loose” teeth! Counting down until you are HERE!

  2. Dana says:

This is so cute, Emily! Clearly, we would go crazy without it, but where do our guys get this sense of humor about all things baby that are stressing us out??? My Josh is the same way–turning a crabby day/afternoon/whatever into a sweet moment for me to laugh :)

  3. julie says:

LOVE that picture of the two girls popping out – precious!

  4. Sarah says:

Great pic of the girls. Good Job Josh! I love it when Colin senses my stress and tries to “laugh” me out of it!

  5. ann says:

Yeah for hubbies who know us so well!
